A set of backgrounds for visual novels (or whatever else can use them) made from photographs I took in England and Scotland in the summer of 1995.   Each photograph has been modified using the program Fotosketcher in an attempt to make it look like a painting or a sketch.  The photos were cropped with the expectation of being used in a 1920x1080 resolution game, however some of the pictures are taller than 1080, as I wasn't sure if it was better to crop the top or the bottom, and decided to leave that up to whoever was going to try to use them.

As these are pretty old pictures that were taken with a film camera, the images are somewhat "scuffed."  Please see the slideshow in the web Ren'py thingy above for examples and details (and random factoids about some of the images).

This initial release is just the "City Scenes" collection, showing various urban locations, mostly around London, but some from other places.   I will be adding additional zip folders with other collections that I couldn't get ready in time for the MVNA jam (because I was very slow to decide I actually wanted to do this and thus had very little time).  The "City Scenes" collection contains variations on 19 different photographs, mostly within London, but a few from other cities (some I was able to identify and some I wasn't).

I am releasing this asset pack with the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC by 4.0), which means that commercial use and modification of the asset are fine, but that credit to me (as PyrrhaIphis) is required and the asset may not be resold as an asset.  Also, I would like to add the additional term that these backgrounds may not be used in any project that defames any group or is otherwise offensive, nor may it be used in/for NFTs.

Unlike my games, I am leaving this asset pack open to donations, because I found out that you can adjust itch.io's share of the proceeds to 100%.  So, if you want to support itch.io, you can donate money for this, safe in the knowledge that I don't get a cent of it.
