For the "Worst Visual Novel Ever" Challenge, I have assembled this...uh...this...um...

...this garbage.

Featuring:

  • my very best hand-drawn art (really, that's the best I can do), drawn in pencil on actual paper and then photographed in poor lighting with my cell phone
  • one nearly 30-year-old photograph I took on a family vacation to England
  • ~3.5k words
  • two story modes, fantasy and romance!
  • three love(?) interests(?)
    • neither player character nor love interests have a specified gender, so feel free to assume it to be yaoi, yuri, amare, otome or galge to your preference (or none of the above, if you like)
  • choices that matter in the sense that almost every single choice in the game sends you careening off onto a new path that in many cases makes even less sense than the path you were on, never to return to the old path unless you start a new game or roll back (they also do not matter as the game is super-short and makes no attempt at logic, sensibility or, y'know, a plot)
  • lots of typographical errors
  • inconsistent dialog
  • randomly forgotten capitalization and punctuation
  • no music or sound effects because I didn't want to subject anyone else's work to this garbage script
  • a narrator who became more and more unhinged as I wrote, which means the parts I got to later are less hinged than the other parts, even if they come earlier in the game
  • more pop culture references than I really intended to make, which is at least partially countered by the fact that some of them are so obscure that probably no one other than me will get them
  • this might be more of a shit post than a proper bad game?  I'm not sure what the difference is, tbh
  • multiple endings (I haven't counted the number), most of them abrupt, though some of them are game overs in the sense that you're told your character died
  • Written over about two days (and it shows)
  • A chance for me to just churn out nonsense and let loose instead of having to try to polish and improve in the hopes that someone might actually want to read it

Content warnings:

Mentions of death, one instance in which the player can kiss someone against their will (but then is suitably punished for it (over-punished, actually)), some mild language, Comic Sans
